Addo Elephant Park

Spent a night in Addo Elephant Park and had a close encounter with an elephant. He came right past the front of our safari vehicle thing and I didn't get any photos of him coming up close because I was frozen with utter delight and excitement.

Half way through the safari drive we stood around for a while to see if any of us could get trampled or eaten. None of us did.
This is an ostrich. He was cool.

The park was a good intro to our animal adventures and we were pretty excited by it all. Our drive out the next morning at sunrise produced buffalo and zebra and loads of buck, warthog friends, a caracal, mongoose and best of all heaps of MEERKATS, yes indeed.

Hopefully more photos to be added soon..

Storms River

Had a fabulous day at Tsitsikamma, went for a long hot exhausting hike and it was most excellent. (Above photo is view from the top)

Melissa made a new friend on a township tour in knysna

Melissa made a new friend on our tour. The township was a lot better off than the ones in the big cities, not great but not nearly as bad as the shacks in capetown.

Birds of Eden

This was an amazing bird sanctuary that is the largest free flying one in the world! Some pretty choice birds were hanging about...
Golden Pheasant

Blue Parakeet
Toby

Scarlet Ibis
Golden Handed Tamarin

Our first whale sighting

We had a lovely walk around a reserve in Pletenburg. We saw a couple of whales off in the distance rolling around. Inspired us to go on a boat tomorrow. Oh and we saw a dassi, it's closest relative is an elephant!

More food in Plett

Another amazing meal with amazing views for super cheap. Emily Moon restaurant, it kept getting recommended so we dropped in and it was amazing.

District 6 museum

These posts are getting all out of order as the four of us contribute. These are photos from the district 6 museum.
The museum was about the process of housing segregation in Cape Town. More depressing shit, but interesting.
